Although June was born in Boston, his sound hails from the origin of his formative years in Cape Verde, which is approximately 350 miles off the western coast of Africa. The culture there is unique since it is near Senegal, The Gambia, Mauritania, as well as part of the Macaronesia ecoregion. In this episode, we unpack the layers that have created June’s journey and rise in music.
