This year’s Met Gala theme was titled, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” and the dress code to follow was “the garden of time.” Unfortunately, some A-listers did not dress on theme or did not interpret said theme or dress code in a way that showed them in the best light. Some of the celebrities that made this list are surprising, while others just missed the mark, whether by ill advice or a stylist who did not see the theme and dress code as most did. In some cases, it may have been the celebrity who was the executor of the style decision. Either way, here are some of the most unfortunate looks from this year’s Met Gala.

*Although the dress Serena Williams wore missed the mark, we are impressed by the intricate floral detailing in the hair piece that’s featured. It is gold and beautiful. Unfortunately, it did not pick up the slack of the unimpressive shape, material and lack of detail to the dress.
