If Chef Kwame Onwuachi is not currently on your radar, let us remedy that for you. He is an award winning American chef with roots in Nigeria. In fact, he spent a number of his formative years there as a child. His Nigerian influences show up quite frequently in his dishes and creativity as a chef, helping him become the standout chef that he presents today.
His breakout year was 2019. Onwuachi was named “Rising Star Chef of the Year” at the James Beard Awards, and was selected among the “Best New Chefs” by Food And Wine Magazine. He has appeared on Top Chef, as a contestant, and then returned as a judge. He has opened two restaurants in Washington D.C., one called Shaw Bijou, and the other was a commission by the InterContinental Hotel. He was hired to open a restaurant at their Southwest Waterfront hotel location. He named the critically acclaimed spot Kith and Kin.
