French Montana was honored last Thursday, for his humanitarian efforts across Africa. The music artist and philanthropist received the 2022 Innovator Award at the annual Pencils of Promise Gala, celebrating his philanthropic work on the Continent. The organization recognized Montana for his numerous charitable projects, especially highlighting his efforts and support in raising over $226 million to strengthen healthcare in Uganda. In addition to these feats, he personally helped finance the Budondo Suubi “Hope” Health Center, which serves new mothers, and their babies.

The Budondo Suubi “Hope” Health Center that specializes in prenatal and postnatal care, was visited by Montana a few years ago. This is a compilation video of him touring the health center in March 2017.

Montana posted photos from the Pencils of Promise event on his Instagram account. He captioned the post with the following text:

“đź’š MAKING MORE HISTORY FOR MY PEOPLE ! Thank you @pencilsofpromise for honoring me with the Innovator Award at last night’s gala. ✏️ Healthcare and education is a fundamental part of our human rights and should be accessible across the globe. I’m grateful for PoP acknowledging my work in maternal healthcare in Africa. PoP is doing groundbreaking work globally to keep kids in school and make sure they have a safe environment to learn. @itsadambraun @kaileescales”
