According to news sources, Hip Hop star, Coolio, who rose to number one status in the 90s, has passed away at the age of 59. While visiting a friend’s home in Los Angeles, Collio was pronounced dead at the scene. Jarez, Coolio’s longtime manager, accounts that the rap star went to the bathroom, but after not returning for some time, Coolio’s friend called to him with no answer. When his friend checked on him, Coolio was on the floor. Paramedics were called, but when they arrived he was pronounced dead. Emergency EMTs suspect that he died from cardiac arrest. Foul play is not evident, but the coroner will not make his final assessment and determination until after the autopsy is conducted.
Coolio, whose real name is Artis Leon Ivey Jr., was a Hip Hop superstar, with had major crossover appeal in the 90s. After releasing his 1995 hit “Gangsta’s Paradise,” for the soundtrack the film “Dangerous Minds,” staring Michelle Pfeiffer, he rose to stardom. Coolio will be missed, may he rest in peace.
