Nigeria responded with urgency and managed to score just before halftime, with Echegini O. finding the net in the 42nd minute from an assist by Ucheibe C., making it 2-1. Despite Nigeria’s efforts, Japan’s superiority was clear.
In injury time, Kitagawa H. secured Japan’s victory with a decisive goal in the 45+5 minute, ending the match at 3-1.
