With a score of 171.296, the U.S. women outpaced silver medalist Italy by nearly six points, while Brazil secured the bronze. The American team’s superiority was unquestionable.

Biles entered these Games under intense scrutiny, as doubts lingered about her ability to perform under the Olympic spotlight after the mental block she experienced in Tokyo. Though she excelled at national competitions and last fall’s world championships, the Olympics posed the ultimate challenge since her return.

Biles sealed the team’s victory with her final routine, stepping onto the floor to thunderous applause. Despite stepping out of bounds twice during her intricate tumbling passes, her performance ensured the U.S. team’s gold. Their dominance throughout the event had nearly guaranteed their victory even before Biles’s music started.

The only significant mistake from the American team came from Jordan Chiles, who fell attempting a challenging front pike salto mount on the beam. Nonetheless, the U.S. team’s exceptional poise and complex routines kept them far ahead of the competition.
