Social media is buzzing with the theory that Africans are actually immune to the Corona Virus that originated in Wuhan China. Although, the virus has spread in Iran and other middle eastern countries, the theory being floated around social media is that African’s are immune therefore the disease doesn’t effect us the same way that it effects Europeans and those living in European countries.
This theory came under pressure when Emmanuel Mudiay, a player for the Utah Jazz allegedly tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus. After reliable sources checked into it, we found that it was not actually Mudiay , who is Congolese, but his teammate Donovan Mitchell.
So what is the truth.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), anyone who comes into close contact with someone infected with the coronavirus is at risk for contracting it.
ThKem Senou Pavel Daryl, a 21-year-old Cameroon national studying in China, became ill after contracting coronavirus and was hospitalized. His recovery sparked theories that Africans were immune but this is before information was out about who the virus actually affected. The elderly and those with underlying health issues. Most others feel little to no symptoms and if they do can be recovered with antibiotics..etc.
In addition, the virus is currently spreading in Africa so take care. Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, Senegal, Togo, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), South Africa, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Gabon and Ghana.
